About this project:
Set in the remote surroundings of Lake Brunner, this home showcases how KNX can seamlessly integrate multiple building systems into a single, easy-to-use platform.
Lighting throughout the home is controlled using a DALI lighting system integrated with KNX, providing complete flexibility for customised lighting groups, scene creation, and smooth dimming control of every downlight. This allows the homeowner to easily tailor lighting levels to suit different activities, moods, and times of day.
Automated blinds have been installed to optimise shade control and improve comfort throughout the year. The home’s heating system is also fully integrated into KNX, with dedicated control modules connected to the heat pump units. Using temperature sensors and automated dampers, the system provides intelligent zone control, ensuring each area of the home is maintained at the desired temperature while maximising energy efficiency.
At the centre of the installation is a Gira Z100 visualization panel, which acts as the home’s primary control hub. From a single interface, the homeowner can manage lighting, climate control, automated blinds, security functions, intercom communication, and remote access. The panel also provides energy monitoring capabilities and allows control of the property’s water supply pump, bringing all key building services together in one place.
Given the home’s remote location, reliability and serviceability were key considerations. A Gira S1 secure remote access gateway has been installed, enabling remote programming and system adjustments without the need for a site visit. This allows minor changes, optimisations, and support to be carried out efficiently whenever required.
The result is a highly integrated smart home that delivers comfort, convenience, energy awareness, and long-term flexibility through the power of KNX.
