Summary

I would consider the MDT Universal Interface to be my most used and most relied upon device and it has never let me down. Its installation process is straightforward, and programming it is a breeze. The parameters in ETS are easy to understand, are very flexible for any use case and are written in good English hence why this device gets full marks for programming. An additional highlight of this device is that each channel can also control an LED which is a feature I’ve found to be useful in numerous scenarios.

This device gets full points for style as it interfaces with any switch of your choice, allowing for a high degree of choice between aesthetic styles or cost. The quality rating is lowered due to the thin wires. When using the interface with switches rated for 230V applications, the input wires are very flimsy compared to mains cable. In most cases these wires hold up, but it is not uncommon for them to break if used carelessly. This problem is only faced by the electrical installer and there are many techniques to avoid any issues.

I will be continuing to recommend this device for installs and use it in our KNX training courses.
